Katz v. U.S., 389 US 347 (1967)
Mapp v. Ohio,367 U.S. 643 (1961)
Terry v. Ohio , 329 U.S. 1 (1968)
Based on these cases and the chapter reading, discuss the following:
1) In the recent case in which both parents of Ethan Crumbley were convicted as a result of their 15-year old son committing a mass school shooting in Michigan, there was information that came up in the case that Ethan Crumbley told a psychiatrist/psychologist that he had not asked his parents to get him mental health help. However, Ethan did not testify at his parents' trials because of the protections of the Fifth Amendment, so the jury did not hear his side firsthand. Is that fair to his parents, and did they have a fair trial? why/why not. Would it have been fair to allow another person to testify to what Ethan told a psychiatrist ? (why/why not?
2) Could police have legally entered the Crumbley's home a few days after the shooting to search for the gun used in the shooting? why/why not
