You and your team have been working on a toileting program for several weeks with a particular child. A very thorough assessment had been completed prior to the development and implementation of the program. At the outset, your behaviour consultant, the other behaviour technicians and the mother were really excited to get the program going. Everyone agreed that mastery of toileting would really improve the child's quality of life and access to community participation. It had been agreed that the program would be implemented at home and at the centre. So far, some progress has been made, but the child continues to have at least one accident a day while at the centre. One day when the mother came to pick up her child, you asked how the toileting was going at home. She indicated that she is overwhelmed, she has three other small children and for the last two weeks she hasn't been doing the program at all. She feels that she doesn't have time to collect the daily data and it's just easier to let him wear "pull ups" while at home.
