Gwen and Blake bought a house in North Vancouver, situated beside Rebel Beach Golf Course. As an avid golfer, Blake was extremely excited to live on the course and even joined the golf club as a full member. Over the next two years, Blake managed to lower his golf handicap from 15 over-par to 5 over-par. While Blake was golfing, Gwen spent her time writing and filming a new documentary about music programs for adolescents in developing countries. During the filming, Gwen accidentally tripped on a power cable and caused a video camera to fall over and break into pieces. Gwen knew that her neighbour was a famous film producer and likely had several cameras that she could borrow to finish her filming. Gwen then went to her neighbours house with a dozen oatmeal raisin cookies and asked to borrow a video camera. Her neighbour, Mr. Shyamalan, happily accepted the cookies and told Gwen that she could borrow a video camera, but he would need it back the next day. The next day, Gwen asked Blake if she could interview him for her documentary film. While they were filming in their backyard, an errant golf ball escaped the golf course and struck Blake in the head causing him serious injury. Concerned about the severity of the injury, Gwen and Blake left for Ontario the following day, to meet with a head injury specialist. That same day, Mr. Shyamalan called Gwen asking for the return of his video camera. Gwen told Mr. Shyamalan about Blakes injury, that she was unable to finish her filming and that she needed the video camera for another two weeks. Mr. Shyamalan explained that he required the video camera back immediately for a new feature film. Gwen reiterated that she still needed the video camera and that she would return it when she was finished with her filming.
