In your assigned groups, the group is to AGREE AND select one AND ONLY ONE case from the civil cases involving fraud and false claims against the federal government. This one SELECTED case will be the topic of discussion for this assignment. The cases relate to varied areas such as health care fraud, defense and security, food safety and inspection, federally insured loans and mortgages, highway funds, small business contract, agricultural subsidies, disaster assistance, and import tariffs.

For purposes of this exercise, assume you did not have an active role in the scheme.

Individually, each group member will address the following:

• Who could be a potential whistleblower?
• What would you do if you were an individual with knowledge of the company scheme?
• Applying the steps of the Reardon model, make a recommendation for the individual. (Refer to Figure 5.1, "Decision Making Process" in the course content.)
• Which preventive measures should the company have in place to discourage misconduct in the future?
• Which methods can an organization implement to encourage individuals to disclose misconduct?
• Should an organization inform the government of prohibited wrongdoing once the company is aware of violations of law?

Use course commentary, readings, and videos from the Whistleblowing Module (Lesson 5) to support your initial individual statements. In this discussion forum, please post your views to the exercise in 350 words and then engage your classmates in meaningful debate and discussion to receive full credit.
