Scenario 5 Tom is a director of Marketing at XYZ Inc. This company has a strict policy prohibiting sexual relationships among colleagues in the company due to concerns about sexual harassment. Three years ago, he hired Jane as his secretary. Jane found that Tom was a great colleague and manager. Since both were single, Jane started getting along with Tom outside work hours. One day, she asks him over to her house for dinner. They spent the night together after having a pleasant evening with a delicious dinner and a few drinks. Then, they would continue their secret relationships, and Jane received a promotion to the position of secretary-general along with pay raises. However, as time passed, Jane started feeling that Tom was taking advantage of her based on his managerial power at work. She became more uncomfortable with the relationship, but she could not directly discuss such a problem with him as she was afraid of losing her job. A few months later, Tom learned about how Jane had changed; then, Tom ended the relationship with Jane by terminating her. Jane filed a complaint with the HR.
