Make certain you include a heading and statement about weeding, or de-selection. It is important that you realise that each statement relates to Onotoa Secondary School Library. Below is some information about Onotoa Secondary School (an imaginary school in an imaginary republic, created for this assessment). Onotoa Secondary School is situated on the second largest island on the Kiribati's Island in the South Pacific. It is a co-educational government-run boarding school with 730 students and 33 teaching staff with classes from Year 9 (Form 3) to Year 13 (Form 7 - Foundation). About 370 students board, many having come from some of the other islands that make up the republic. There are also 3 support staff (matron, grounds man, secretary). The island has a population of about 13,000. There is no public library and the school is somewhat remote, being situated in the centre of the island but accessible by a good road. There is reasonable internet access for staff and students can access the internet in the library or in the study hall. The school has a traditional timetable that includes standard secondary subjects such as Language, Mathematics, Science,Commerce, Social Science and Home Economics. All Onotoa people speak their own language fluently plus speak and write English though the standard of English varies. Students from some of the remoter islands often need remedial English and intensive classes are offered for these students. Students' extra-curricular activities include horse-riding, fishing and swimming (in the nearby river), soccer, netball and rugby. Indoor games such as chess are offered in the study hall and the library. There is also an excellent choir, although music is not formally taught at the school. The library building is new, large with good areas for the collection, study tables and a separate area for the library staff (a librarian and a library assistant). Students also work as volunteer library helpers. Currently only teaching staff and students are able to borrow but the three ancillary staff have asked if they could borrow too. The collection is old and needs considerable updating. Ready reference materials on the internet. The fiction section is poor, consisting mainly of adult paperbacks in a tatty condition. There are a few DVDs, mainly movies, and the school would like to have a lot more nonbook material, especially documentaries and non-fiction. The non-fiction section is patchy -some books support the curricula, but not all school subjects are covered and there are very few books and other material to support general interest and hobbies. About AUD$20,000 in Australian aid has been promised for the library and will be available in a month's time. . Any answers please
