Beth is a 17-year-old Caucasian female who is concerned about how she looks. She believes that she is overweight even though her parents are concerned because she has lost 30 pounds in the last year. One of her friends at school introduced her to purging after she eats in order to assure herself that she will not gain weight. Her parents want to be sure that she eats three meals a day, so she complies and then throws up the food right after the meal. She exercises two hours a day as well to keep her weight down. She states that she knows she is overweight because she sees what she looks like when she looks in the mirror, so she believes her parents are just trying to control her. She states "they just want to keep me being a little girl and not grow up".
