1. Use economic analysis to explain why there is a shortage of doctors (include consequences of the Medicare Act and cap on residencies). 2. How is the shortage of doctors/physicians currently being met? 3. What tradeoffs does the medical industry face when the focus is on making "more doctors?" i.e. What else must be given up in terms of other medical professions and medical equipment?
4. Let's say that 10 years down the line, there is no longer a shortage of doctors. Economically and/or socially, how do you think this can be achieved? And what may be the consequences of lowering doctor pay? (Note that if we expect an increase in the Supply of Doctors, this may lower real wages, but consider why this may be a good thing. i.e. Workload may be shared or reduced.)
