The point is not to be judgmental about your patterns, the point is to recognize the unhelpful patterns and modify them. With this in minddiscuss theTen Ways to Misunderstand Children, using the following questions:

1. In what ways that you believe you misunderstand children and why?
2. What experiences or values in your life do you think have contributed to this tendency to misunderstand children?
3. Did you ever feel misunderstood as a child? Briefly explain how.
4. What ways might you work on growing to understand children more deeply?
5. As an expression of reflecting on the impact of cultural representation and how we can be misunderstood and how we may misunderstand other complete the Bronfenbrenner Activity sheet, (Module 2)where students create their own Ecological Model and embed it as an image here.
