Lucy (14mths) is becoming more confident and independent each day. She insists on doing mostthings for herself and willpersist at a task even when she becomes frustrated. Lucy arrives at theservice at 7.30am and is usually ready for a morning sleep by 10.30am. Lucy's parents have toldthe educator that Lucy is to have only one sleep per day (after lunch) because she will not settle atnight until 10pm. However, the educator finds that by lunchtime Lucy is too tired to eat her lunchand becomes fussy and upset. This is an ethical dilemma for the educator who feels that acompromiseshouldbe reached so that Lucy gets adequate sleep
