All three of the machines have a fair market value of exactly $50,000.Reagan has a basis of $60,000 in Machine A, a basis of $50,000 in Machine B and a basis of $40,000 in Machine C. The CEO of Reagan Corporation has contacted you and tells you that the Corporation really doesnt need but one of the machines but they want to now if there is a tax angle on how they do this distribution. If one way is better then the others for tax purposes, advise them of which machines it should distribute to the shareholders, which ones (if any) they should sell and why it matters for tax purposes.
