Recall our example of study hours and grades achieved to describe decision-making by representative individuals. Assume that as the number of study hours increase, so does the grade, but at a decreasing rate. This relationship between study hours and grades achieved is what we will call the grades production function. (i) What could bring about a technological improvement in your production function and those of your fellow students? (ii) Draw a diagram to illustrate how this improvement would affect your feasible set of grades and study hours. (iii) Analyse what might happen to your choice of study hours, and the choices that your peers might make. (iv) Now suppose that you fall ill. For health reasons, your marginal product of labour for all hours is reduced by 10%. What happens to your feasible frontier curve?
