Recognizing that some individuals do not identify as either male or female, the news release you read in this module's Self$-$Study Assignments area described the recent revisions to U$.$S$.$ passport applications that includes a box labeled $$X$$ in addition to the traditional male and female options for sex. Discuss if you think there should be a third category of $$sex$$ in terms of checking boxes on surveys or applications. Societally, is this needed?
