Record observations about the size of the bowl and the pitch/note of the sound needed to make the salt "dance" (bowl vibrate). What happens just before and after the sound? Explain how sound travels?

Concerning the different patterns in the salt, what do the areas where the salt has not collected tell you about the movement of sound? What do the areas where salt has collected tell you? (Use technical terms).

Be sure to respond to each question

When watching the video, observe everything you see and report on it. What size is the bowl? Is the bowl glass or plastic? Why would you pick that kind of bowl? Is it a good resonator of sound? Is the salt moving initially? What causes the salt to move?

Remember-increases in intensity (loudness) cause bigger sound waves, which would cause salt to do what? Also remember that when sound waves are condensed (aka "smooshed together"), that means the frequency is higher. The farther apart they are, the lower the frequency. So what happens with the salt when it's smooshed, or grouped, together?

You saw in your PRAAT analysis that every time a frequency changed, f1-f2-f-3, there was a break and different look to your sound waves on your spectrogram. The same thing happens with the salt when the patterns break. This indicates a new frequency. Explain this in more detail and make it specific to the video.

Finally, think about why salt moves away from the stronger vibrations into areas of low vibrations.
