Redesign for AM via Topology Optimization In the previous homework, you came up with several designs for the pillow bracket shown below using topology optimization. As you should have noticed, the final design still is not optimal for printing. The final geometry is typically jagged with small segments that may fail during printing. To print the optimized part, a cleanup is required to successfully print the part. Figure 1: Pillow Bracket The tasks to be carried out for this assignment are given as follows: Task 1: Clean up one of the optimized bracket designs from the previous homework assignment so that it satisfies the DFAM rules for it to print on a desktop FDM printer. These rules should include overhang constraint, print resolution, etc. Note: It may be helpful to run different constraints to visualize designs before completing the cleanup. Task 2: Using an FDM 3D printer such as the Flash Forge Creator Pro 3D printer in SB28 to prepare and print the cleaned optimized bracket design. Task 3: Repeat Task 1 and Task 2 if the design fails to print correctly.
