Refer to your organization's incident investigation program and match to the list of pre-investigation key elements. If your organization does not have a formal investigation program, then begin to map out the pre-investigation elements and requirements of the incident investigation program.

If you do not have access to an incident investigation program, research and review an external organization's investigation program or a program from a friend's organization. Determine the extent of pre-planning for investigations in the pre-investigation phase.
