Reflect on the importance of having academic and professional standards, guidelines, and mission & vision statements.  You reviewed the history and development of nursing education through your text reading, you reviewed the BenU and Nursing mission and vision statements, and have been reviewing the APA writing guidelines.

Think of where you currently work (or had previous clinical experiences if not currently in a healthcare setting).  When you arrive to work, are you (and others) actively aware of your workplace mission, vision, and/or "branding"?  Reflect on the effectiveness of system-, site-, nursing-, unit-based initiatives and how they align with mission, vision or quality goals.  Discuss why or why not these are effective - what could change if needed?  Why is it important to have statements or goals visible?
