Relationships are very important in life. For tourism before a "buyer" like an outbound tour operator will start to do business with a "seller" like a receptive operator in another market, they will not only do extensive research on the business and possible alternatives, they will also want to connect with the business to see not only if they are a good business, but if they are the right match for their business. This is a large part of what different travel trade events and forums are - a chance for tourism businesses to connect and make partnerships. One of the way this is done is through "speed networking". As we are learning in class this is a format where people have a very short amount of time to share information with another tourism business to see who if they are a good fit. Key components of rapidly networking include: - Having a succinct description of your business such as a profile sheet. This is MAX 1 page. - Having a fantastic skills at showcasing your unique value proposition and how their organization can benefit from you. (This elevator speech is the same concept you use in personal pitching like when you interview for professional positions in the future.) Your task: Pick a Canadian tourism experience provider. This can be any type of tourism business in Canada that is looking to connect with customers through working with Travel Trade. 1. Create a Profile Sheet for them. 2. Write a speech that can be delivered in 60 to 90 seconds. You will need to practice delivering your speech to determine how long it takes. Time yourself or have someone else time you. Use MS Word and include the following elements: a. A strong opening. This will be a solid sentence introducing who you are, which will include your name, job title or primary role and why you chose this line of work. b. A paragraph explaining your product, its target market, highlights of the package and its benefits to your potential client and partners you are looking to work with. c. A strong closing sentence. Thank your audience and let them know you appreciate their time. d. Be enthusiastic and professional. You only have 7 seconds to make the first impression
