I am in school because I want to be the change I want to see in the world. I love studying the mind and how it works. I also love children, so I want to put them both together in a career.

This class interested me because I want to become a spokesperson or help get children in safer environments. There are way too many tragedies today. I think the most relevant theme is emotional intelligence because you have to know how to reach each individual children in each situation.
I chose this image because it represents so much, I love children although I have no biological children of my own, I have raised several. Watching the news, all I see is foster/adoptive parents having children in unsafe situations or better yet the child's own parents harming them. It crushes my heart because these kids deserve more. They deserve better. This is what I want to change in the world.
2) Why are you in school?
I'm in school to better myself and complete education. Like I mentioned earlier into this course that I was previously in school, but I got discouraged and dropped out for almost 2 years then I found the passion to become a therapist because I learned that I have some skills that's proficient in the counseling field, so I decided to act on it and get back on track. And I also changed my major from nursing to psychology because I wanted to learn more about behaviors, especially myself which I came to learn a lot and I'm excited to keep learning more in this field. And most of all I want to be the first child of my father to graduate college and use it for something meaningful (mainly doing this for myself though).
- How do you learn best?
I learn best with hands on experience, and rhythmic or fun ways to learn so it can stick. I lose focus quickly especially when something is boring, it discourages me.
- What are your skills?
Active listening is one of my best skills because I don't say much unless I'm spoken to, which makes it very easy to vent to me because I won't try to interrupt or talk over you. I work well under pressure no matter what's going on around me, I'm always calm and collected.
- What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
As a person that wants to become a therapist which requires lots of communication, I would love to improve my communication skills. I do communicate but it's more of "don't talk unless spoken to" or I don't want to overshare or say the wrong thing which makes me talk less and listen more. Most times I act than to rather talk - I'm the definition of actions speaks louder than words -.
- What are your interests and hobbies?
I love doing anything that sets me in a good mood like painting, molding, drawing, collecting jades, reading while I listen to soul music and working out. I find comfort in these things as they please me and soothes me.
- What problems would you like to address in the world?
Abortion - This shouldn't be anybody's choice but the owner of the body that's making the decision. Making decision for yourself gives you the empowerment that you have control over your life and to do what's best for yourself.
Sexual assault, Gun control, Equal and higher pay.
- Where do you envision yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I see myself fully grown into my career, gained more knowledge and experiences to start my firm and start helping as many individuals as possible. Successful with my first or more homes and desired car with lots of investments and career connection.
- Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for personal growth?
- Self-care
- Social justice
- Emotional intelligence
- Career connections
- Ethics
The most relevant programmatic to my career is self-care. Being a therapist can get lonely at times and you might care so much for other people that you forget about yourself. So, self-care is very important in this case in order to self-regulate and keep oneself sane while helping others to get better.
Next, share one picture (or any media, e.g., meme, gif, image) that represents you and what you stand for. Include a brief description explaining why you chose that picture.
This picture represents me because I live day by day without any expectations of what will come my way. I believe whatever is meant to be, will be and the future is not ours to see.
