Repeat the solution to Example 2 8 . 2 - 1 using two equal doses of fresh ) activated carbon of 0 . 7 0

Repeat the solution to Example 28.2-1 using two equal "doses" of fresh ) activated
carbon of 0.70kg each. This process is two batch adsorption steps applied one after the
other. After the first batch adsorption step, all of the adsorbent is removed leaving the
same volume of solution, but at a lower equilibrium concentration. The solution
remaining is contacted again with another 0.7kg of fresh activated carbon. This is a bit
tricky, so think it through very carefully. Again, use a spreadsheet calculation approach,
not graphical. Is the percent of the original phenol extracted the same as in part a, or is it
higher?
