Fostering patient-centered care requires the integration of cultural competency, sensitivity, and awareness in healthcare procedures. Since the United States is considered a "melting-pot" country filled with different cultures and people of many backgrounds, we do not have a homogenous society. This requires additional work on behalf of healthcare providers and companies. Much like HIPAA compliance training, cultural competency training should be required annually in the field. This would sharpen the skills required to be a culturally competent facility with all employees up to date
