Self-efficacy is defined as "people's beliefs in their capability to exercise some measure of control over their own functioning and over environmental events" (Feist, et al., 2021 pg. 535). Self-efficacy has a high impact on our character, our personality, and our lives because it is controlled by our behaviors towards a specific situation. (Feist, et al., 2021 pg. 536). People with higher self-efficacy are more successful at decision making and taking control over their life, whereas those with lower self-efficacy are more likely to lose hope when combating a problem. Self-efficacy can have a positive and/or negative affect on an individual's personality depending on the personality trait of the person.
My MBTI results were quite shocking to me because I didn't believe that the MBTI assessment was going to display accurate results. According to my MBTI- assessment my personality type was ISFJ, meaning Introvert (66%), Sensing (41%), Feeling (20%), and Judging (53%). While understanding my MBTI results, I understand that some things I may struggle with is working in a group because once I start something I can be persistent until the task is complete. My MBTI results impact my personal self-efficacy because in a relationship I need my significant other to consistently show me how much I am loved, cared for, and appreciated. If for any reason my partner cannot display their attraction/appreciation for me then I will suffer a low self-efficacy which will cause me to feel hopeless in my relationship.
I set extremely high expectations for myself and at times it can become overwhelming because I feel like I have to a year's worth of task in a month. My faith plays a huge role in self-efficacy because it allows me to regroup when I am feeling overwhelmed with life and responsibilities. The two main scriptures I like to read are Proverbs 16:3, and Philippians 4:13 because they give me strength and comfort in knowing that I am not battling anything alone but with Christ.
