Management Bateman & Konopasake 7th Edition, 2022, page 37 Summary: "The Ethics of Organizational Behavior Management" Nicholas L. Weatherly, PH.D (2021). This article points out ethics as being the primary source of employee and management performance. It provides a breakdown of ethical and unethical decision making and how it is important to follow a set procedure to ensure that business practices are being handling appropriately. And the value of ethical standards in the workplace. Making the right decisions versus making decisions that would be good from a business perspective but ultimately are unethical. The writes notes it is important to ensure you handle things the right way as this could send the wrong message to employees that are seeing these decisions being made. Through time there has been different approaches to OBM, Organizational behavior Management. There are regulations and however BACB doesn't meet certain criteria it doesn't mean that it still isn't a good practice to follow. BACB, Behavior Analyst Certification Board has provided sufficient procedures and handling problem behaviors with employees. He explains It provides a set of standards to apply in a business that will help to keep the business in order. However, BACB is not the only resource, Weatherly prefers this resource. The article suggests that this resource practice will help to drive performance because the employees know what to expect. Johnson, PH.D (2021) provide a different outlook to the organizational behavior than that of Nicholas Weatherly of "The Ethics of Organizational Behavior Management" (2021). Choi and Johnson believe that Organizational behavior management could use prior practices to help a company to succeed, rather than using other processes. These authors found that one process is to set goals and provide constructive feedback to help improve employee performance. Feedback being essential to the outcome that aided to the employee's performance in meeting their goals. Without feedback they determined that the percentage of meeting their expected goal was lower. Not just having a major goal but a smaller goal that is more achievable and easier to meet. Another process is to set task to ensure they are clear. Explain the expectations, responsibilities and role for the expected performance. Breaking this down to is important to ensure it is fully understood. "Crowell et al. (1988) defined task clarification as the precise behavioral descriptions of a performance." Choi and Johnson, (2021) With explaining the task to also come back and provide that feedback on how performance was on the task provided. Lastly job aids and checklist. Making sure that employees have all the material that they need to assist them with performing their jobs. The job aids provide direction or a step-by-step process on how to perform a process. Checklists make sure you have everything you need before you can move to that next process or so you don't forget what needs to be done next. Choi and Johnson found that making sure job aids and checklists are available increased task completions. Their view on organizational behavior gears to focusing on providing the tools that employees need to build confidence in their understanding. They enforce this with setting goals, tasks and ensuring feedback. This allows for more one on one discusses and makes it more personal. Whereas Nicholas Weatherly organizational behavior focuses on ethics being the main and total source of overall work performance and being consistence to ensure behavior change. By ensuring that business should have a code of ethics to ensure professionalism and compliance employees, management and clients. "The BACB's first ethics code area pertains to how the conduct of a behavior analyst reflects the standards set forth by the profession in terms of the rules, procedures, use of scientific tools, and quality control measures shared, evaluated, and continuously improved upon by members of the profession." Nicholas Weatherly, (2021). Weatherly's approach focuses on the business professional aspect but lacks the individual complexity of their individual employees when improving work performance Biblical Integration: a 71/ 10 nsert ort seIrses/385249/discussion_topics/3232500 "Iron Sharpens Iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17 (KJV). The Bible tells us that it's not just about taking care of matters to better yourself but to also work to make others around you better. When we use the word and apply it in the workplace to help better organizational behavior. Managers would take the time to ensure employees understand their roles, responsibilities, conduct one on ones, set goals, provide the feedback, check ins and mentorships. When you take the focus off yourself and focus on helping others out. We place our focus on the bigger picture. Collectively promote overall growth within the business by building each team member up which make everyone successful in their roles.
