Initial question

Select one of the levels of decision making and identify one decision that a manager at that level might make. The decision must relate to the retail business and what it does. Then, explain what information a manager at that level might get from the IT systems, such as inventory management or customer information system, to aid in making that decision.

To make a successful retail store there will be a ton of factors in making it run smoothly at all levels. At the managerial level, the roles and responsibilities of a district manager would include overseeing budgeting, recruitment, hiring, sales, managing front line manager issues etc. of multiple stores in a specific area. An issue that retail stores run into would be staffing shortages and high turnover rates.

For a district manager to resolve a portion of this problem, a system can be put in place so that district employees can work at different store locations. This can help with training, filling in gaps when people are out or giving some power back to the employee over their hours (within reason). The information that a district manager would get from the IT system would be in one concise location for all employees in the district, which would show all employee information, needs, requests and gaps. Information can flow both ways from management to employees and vice versa. This can lead to lower turnover rates and higher company morale.
