There are situations that occur in the workplace that may discriminate against an employee but should not occur. One of the most popular ones that I see quite often is with pregnant women who are trying to find a job in the corporate world. Lots of employers are not willing to hire these women due to the fact that they will need to leave for maternity leave in a few months. The employer will most likely find another reason as to why they did not hire this woman due to it being illegal not to hire someone for being pregnant. There are many accommodations that can be made in order to prevent these situations. Adjustments can be made to employees in order to ensure that they can provide the services required for the job. Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), "a reasonable accommodation is a modification or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process" (Department of Labor, 2024). Adjustments and assistance can be made to employees in order to ensure that they can provide the services required for the job.

An employer can not deny hiring someone for having a visible tattoo but can deny hiring someone who is not willing to follow company policy about visible tattoos. If the company policy is to cover them and the employee is not willing to cooperate this is a reasonable instance for them to be fired or not hired in the first place. An employer can not deny hiring someone who is transgender. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission protects all individuals in the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace. A white person can not be denied a job in the Chinese restaurant due to their race. They could be denied for requirements of the job such as having the ability to speak the language. But the race alone is against the law. Once again relating to the last situation, denying a black person to play the role of Ameila Earhart is illegal. The role could be denied if the individual did not meet required skill level.
