Transformational leadership can have a large impact on business that need to either change to adapt to the current business environment or can help businesses maintain their place in the current landscape.Transformational leadership is key when it comes to innovation and change especially in technology-based companies.The ability to handle constant change is paramount and this allows for individual and team innovation to help drive the business forward.
Transformation leaders carry a large responsibility to set a clear vision for upcoming changes to allow for their people to be able to understand and achieve the goals that are set for them. They also need to maintain a positive mindset to keep the team engaged and this is where the leadership is crucial.If the vision is not clear or in some cases to much change is happening, it can demoralize teams and ruin business cultures.Setting a clear vision and giving employees freedom to innovate are key to creating a atmosphere where transformational leadership works.
When the business needs to maintain clearly defined and established goals transformational leadership is not the best choice usually this will fall into transactional leadership. The difference is that transactional leadership is beneficial when change is not need by the organization and therefore change agents and innovation are not currently needed to maintain output with little risk of failure.
I don't feel that all employees are able to benefit from transformational leadership or the environment that it creates. It takes a creative and driven individual to be able to thrive in that atmosphere. My feelings are that if employees are not comfortable with taking risks or chances with a high probability of failures this might not be a good fit for them.As innovation and constant change are important in transforming departments or businesses.I think the leader will need to be able to identify these traits and develop those people to allow the business to change or innovate. The leader would also need to be able to support both types of employees as implementors of change and receivers of the changes.To maintain a high business output.
