Question #1: What score did you get on the Social Styles Assessment (letter and number)?
What is yourPRIMARYSocial Style (this is your dominant style)? Analytical (D1, D2, C1, or C2), Driver (B1, B2, A1, or A2), Expressive (B3, B4, A3, or A4) or Amiable (D3, D4, C3, or C4)?
- My Primary Social Style is Analytical (C2).
What is your SECONDARY Social Style? For example, if I am a B2, my primary social style is driver and my secondary social style is amiable. Therefore, my overall social style is Amiable DRIVER.
- My Secondary Social Style is Expressive. My overall social style is Expressive Analytical.
Question #2:After listening to the e-lecture and reviewing the Chapter 3 materials, what specific things did you learn about your Social Style? Describe at least five (5)characteristics that describe you and your social style. How accurate was your score?
- After watching the video, it is clear to me that those with an Analytical social style are typically cautious and detailed individuals, meaning they have low responsiveness and low assertiveness. I am someone who likes to keep things to myself so many consider me to be a quiet and serious person, which I agree with. I am also very organized and precise. I like to take things slow and know the outcome will be great instead of doing things fast and having them come out wrong. I like to focus on all the details. Those with this social style are people that tend to control their emotional expressions. However, I don't think this characteristic describes me well. I also don't think I appear coldhearted. Overall, I don't think my score was too far from accurate. Many of the characteristics of the Analytical style describe me well.
Question #3: Salespeople need to be able to adapt or flex to the other social styles. Describe/explain 2 specific actions or behaviors you can use to adapt to each of the four main social styles. You should have a total of 8 actions or behaviors, 2 for each style. Be specific with your explanations.
- Adapting to and recognizing the different types of social styles is very important when it comes to business and especially sales work. To adapt to the analytical style, it is important to ) take things at a slow pace and explain everything step-by-step. 2.) Also, having clear and concise communication will make things a lot better. To adapt to the driver style, 3.) getting straight to the point and not wasting time is crucial, as well as 4.) letting go a bit for others to gain more control. To adapt to the expressive style, 5.) talking and communicating with great enthusiasm is the way to go. Another option would be 6.) having creativity and engaging in fun ways. To adapt to the amiable style, 7.) being supportive and listening attentively is important. 8.) Avoiding any type of conflict is also a great way to adapt.
Question #4: Discussthree (3)behaviors that are the most challenging for you to control/adjust. What specific steps will you take going forward to improve them.
- One of the most challenging behaviors for me is moving at a fast pace. I am a perfectionist, so I like to take my time in doing things. To help this, I must accept that it is okay to make mistakes and I need to stop stressing out and not put so much pressure on myself. I also tend to have difficulty when it comes to making decisions. I am an overthinker. I believe remaining positive and optimistic is the only way to improve it. Lastly, being talkative is also a bit challenging for me. I am shy and tend to keep things to myself. I like to be in my own space. Communication is a very big part of businesses and even in the day-to-day life, so I have to practice doing more of it to get better.
Example
As I was going over your comment, I have to agree with you on the fact that one of the most challenging aspects for me as well is the fact that I move at a fast pace and tend to be a perfectionist at that. I liked your solution right after that. As human beings, we're not 100% perfect and it's our mistakes that make us learn important lessons. I love your optimism and positivity. Thank you for sharing!
