A stressful situation that I experienced was when I moved to the United States from Cuba in 2016. I was 17 years old and I left my parents and the rest of my family in Cuba. The types of stressors in this situation were physical environment because it was my first time in USA, social because I did not have my family and friends, financial because I was uncertain about my financial future and lifestyle choices, because it was a big choice that I made that will change my life completely. I think stress affected me biologically since my appetite decreased. The stress also affected me cognitively and emotionally because I missed my family and friends and I felt alone sometimes, which made me think multiple times if that was a good decision. I think my friends and family members would have experienced less stress than me, because I tend to overthink everything, and I do not know how to deal with stress and anxiety sometimes. I consider this situation as a major life event that drastically changed my life and the way I see the world . After watching the video and using the experience I shared I think a change in the perception of stress would have impacted my response and bodily experience of stress because I could have experienced this situation as a great opportunity without worrying about what could happen. A change in perception could help me to see the positive side of a new start with many opportunities to grow. When I look back, I do not understand why I reacted to this situation as I did because I do not regret the choices I made. Caring created resilience is when you use stress for your own benefit. This means that you know how to deal with stress and convert all the possible negative effects of stress into positive feelings such as courage and resilience. I think it is important to the stress process because it can help you overcome difficult times by transforming the bad emotions and worries into good emotions and hope for the present and future.
