The National Front marked the end of the bipartisan violence that afflicted Colombia for more than a century and led to the demobilization of some liberal guerrillas. However, social, economic, and political problems continue.

May 25, 1969. my grandfather fought to be the mayor of Caucasia Antioquia, Colombia. He leads the conservative party. Which in the polls, my grandfather would be the future mayor of that place. All the polls reflected that the votes were in favor of him, and the statistics indicated this.

But another candidate for the Liberal Party had more power or "friends," so he manipulated the electoral centers to say they were wrong. With his lies, he convinced people that statistics showed that he was the winner. For which he was recognized as the winner. Ten years later, they found statistics documents and votes of that moment, which indicated that my grandfather had been the winner by the number of votes in his favor. But by then, a member of the Liberal Party had murdered my grandfather. So now I can say statistics do not lie; people do.
