If hiring an assistant coach, these same people should be there with the addition of the head coach of the program. It would be beneficial to them to provide their input, as they would be working alongside this person every day. However, when it comes to having the final say on who is to be hired for an assistant coach position, the AD should make this decision. Although the input from the head coach is important, they should not have the liberty in this type of setting to "hand pick" their assistant. Furthermore, the AD is the administrator and is higher on the totem pole, so they should have the final say
