The head coach will be working with their assistant day in and day out, often working/planning outside of practice time and in the off season. For this reason, it is important for them to feel like they have a counterpart that will fit their program well. The athletic director should have an opinion as well but barring any concerns by the AD or other administrators, the head coach should make the final decision
