I think the author did a good job of keeping readers engaged by highlighting future opportunities for customers that would be made available to them through the program. They also offered a link to where customers could find future updates on the merger which may be useful to some. In the end, I think these aspects made it effective. If I were the author of the message, I probably would have started the email using the second paragraph that I feel appeals more to the customer than the opening sentence. The first paragraph seems to be more focused on the company's achievements rather than their concern for the customer. I do not think this message requires a response
