REQUESTED ASSISTANCE - Would you please review the provided answer as well as the provided detailed explanation / analysis for the answer to the below regression question. Is the provided answer correct, and what improvements can be made to the provided detailed explanation / analysis for the answer?

In a regression model of the form Y = 4.2+2.9X, if the p value for the coefficient of X is 0.44, then what is your conclusion?

ANSWER: In regression analysis, we try to check the null hypothesis whether the correlation between the selected dependent variable and independent variables is zero against the alternative hypothesis that the correlation between the selected variables is significant. If the two variables have no correlation or zero correlation, it indicates that we should not try to develop regression analysis based on the selected two variables, as dependent variable can not be predicted based on independent variable. P-value is a probability of the distribution greater than the statistic. If p-value is less than the level of significance we reject the null hypothesis and if p-value is greater than the level of significance we accept the null hypothesis. Since p-value > 0.05for coefficient X, it means our sample data does not provide enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis for the entire population. The data rather favors the hypothesis that thereisa zero correlation. Changes in the independent variablearenot associated with changes in the dependent variable at the population level. The coefficient of X variable is not statistically significant and is probably not worth having in our regression model.
