THE IMPACT OF CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19) ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF EMIRATES AIRLINES INTRODUCTION Emirates are one of the famous airline companies based in UAE. And UAE is the busiest city and the busiest airport. This was one such airline company which grew through partnerships and investments. Founded in the year 1985, today it is the fourth largest airline company in the world. It was found by the Royal family of UAE and they emphasize on the value of the employees and the customers. The company selects its employees in such a manner that they are the best qualified ones in the fields. And the trend in the organization in such that the turnover rate when compared is very low and majority of them stay up till the age of retirement As the building of workforce by the company is based on this ethics, it is seen that this has a positive impact on the performance of the organization also. And even during this pandemic, we can see a number of employees of the Emirates running around the airport in order to make the journey of other people in the most comfortable manner. And this organizational performance of the company SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The significance of the study here is to understand or grab knowledge regarding how an airline company termed to be the 4th largest airline company in the world is coping with the pandemic when everything around is in a stagnant position right now. This would also help us to get an understanding how the company is actually planning to help us complete our journey using their service such that we are assured to have a safe and corona free journey It also would help us see a ray of hope that whatever the situation be it is not easy for any one big or small and all we can do is to fight against the odds and find a way to function ourselves and help others around us also to function. The significance of this study also lies in the fact that how the functioning or performance of this particular company would be affecting the allied services or companies also. There are multiple companies that depend on Emirates with respect to certain contracts and other services provided as supporting or allied. SCOPE OF THE STUDY The scope of the study is not limited to just the study of impact of corona or covid-19 virus and the pandemic on the organizational performance of the Emirates but also how the same shall be affecting the other factors like the aircraft maintenance and such allied activities which are a part of this. How the Human Resource department of the company along with the management has taken the necessary arrangements to ensure an unlimited service from the employees without causing any health or other pressures on them. And lastly but not least the financial performance of the company, during the pandemic when compared to the last year and what was the actual expected growth during this year if possible. And it's there a scope to catch up the target from now on. LITERATURE REVIEW Reading the literature majorly from the Emirates official website and the other articles available about the entity, we can see that the company and its management are taking stringent measures for ensuring a seamless service for the customers. This is majorly because; currently there are a lot of expatriates trying to go back to their own country due to loss of jobs and other reason. Due to the loss of jobs it has become difficult for them to pay the basic bills including rent which is actually forcing them to leave the country. There are also many people who are still having jobs but not being paid even the basic salary. So for ensuring their return, Emirates have to work day and night putting the lives of their employees along with compensating the increased expenses and lowered turnover. The performance of the company when looking from the non-financial aspect is in the most effective manner as of before the pandemic and as a response to the pandemic the same has been made more careful and alert as they have to take more safety measures right now after each flight. This is majorly because there are a lot of travellers who are children/pregnant/senior citizens who are vulnerable to the virus. Coming to the financial aspect there was a slowdown in the same during the last weeks of March and the turnover when compared to the earlier year has surged to a limit. But afterwards the same has taken a step back and now it tends to increase on the go on a good note.
