  1. What factors should be considered when evaluating player performance?
    1. General managers of NBA teams try to predict player performance as a function of several factors. Multiple linear regression can be used to identify significant independent variables. Generally, the following steps can accomplish this:
      1. Construct a model with all the independent variables. Check to see that the variable is significant by examining p-values. If p-values are significant at the pre-specified significance level (i.e., most commonly used significance level of 0.05), those variables need to be included in the next iteration.
      2. If p-values are not significant, identify the independent variable with the largest p-value that exceeds the significance level. Then, remove that variable from the next iteration. However, do not remove all non-significant variables at once; only remove one at a time.
      3. Repeat the process until all independent variables are significant.
