Requirements for Discussion Assignments You are required to post one initial post and to follow up with at least two response posts for each discussion assignment. You should post your discussion response first, and then respond to other students.

Mathematical models are constructed for many different practical applications, and we start to look at some of them in this course. This discussion begins with a simple model.

For your initial post (1), you must do the following:

• Solve the problem in the 2-1 Discussion: Models and Applications activity in Mobius.
• Explain how you got your answer in the Brightspace module discussion.
• Include your original problem:Each student will receive a different question, and it is important to include your original problem in your post. This will allow your peers to understand your question and provide appropriate feedback.
• Use the equation editor: When presenting mathematical work, please use the equation editor provided to show all your calculations and equations clearly. This will help facilitate understanding and communication of mathematical concepts.
• Describe the process: Present your final answer by showcasing all the mathematical steps involved and provide a thorough explanation of your approach.
• Do not edit your original post after feedback: Once you receive feedback on your initial post, please refrain from editing the original post. Instead, reply to the feedback with your revised work. This ensures that the original problem remains visible to future readers and helps prevent confusion. Please note that edited posts are not flagged as unread, so it is important to reply to feedback for proper grading.

For your response posts (2), you must do the following:

• Comment on your classmates' analyses and their answers. Compare and contrast your problem-solving approach to how your classmates solved the problem.
• Review the explanations given by your peers for their problem-solving strategies. Your comments may focus on the following:
  • How did they describe steps to make their explanations clear?
  • What additional details could they have included?
  • What details did they include that you may not have?
  • What changes would you make?
• Reply to at least two different classmates outside of your own initial post thread.
