A teacher has 100 students enrolled in his high school math classes. He is concerned about why there is such a wide difference in how well the students are doing in math. He thinks that the differences might be because of three reasons: (1) some students spend more time studying for the test; (2) some students are naturally more intelligent than others; and (3) some students just hate math.

1. How might we measure each of these concepts?
