Research an article showing corporate fraud committed sometime in the last few years. This needs to be a fraud committed at a company, not a tax fraud, not a person stealing from a friend, etc. After reading the article, summarize the article in 3-5 pages (cant be less than 3 full pages, cant be more than 5 pages), discussing the following for your article. Be sure to number your items to correspond with the requirements shown below. 1. Describe the nature of the fraud. What did the individual(s) do and how was it concealed? 2. Tie the fraud to each of the three elements of the fraud triangle as learned in Chapter 10. Be specific. Show what risk factors contributed to each of the three elements. 3. What circumstances in the Companys internal control systems allowed the individual(s) to be able to perpetrate the fraud? Include in your discussion how the fraud could have potentially been prevented using concepts that weve learned in the course. 4. Discuss a violation of at least one assertion or objective. 5. Discuss a form of evidence that auditors might have focused on to uncover this fraud. 6. Discuss at least one risk assessment that should have been done or done better to help prevent this fraud OR bring it to the auditors attention. 7. Review the AICPA Code of Conduct for CPAs in Chapter 4. Explain how any of these items were violated by the people involved in the fraud. List at least one example. 8. How was the fraud detected?
