RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT Part 2 ILOs A2, D2, D3 Case Terminology1 Unless expressly permitted otherwise by prior assent on the part of the instructor, each student, working in the previously assigned group, must individually find SEVEN terms from the prescribed case only2 for a total of 14 terms per group of two students or 21 terms per group of three. (Most groups are composed of three students.) The best five of each seven will be counted as 2 marks each for a total of 12 marks maximum per student. Beyond these levels, additional submissions will be ignored. ONLY ONE COLLECTIVE SUBMISSION BY ANY GROUP BY THE DESIGNATED GROUP LEADER TO MOODLE will be entertained by the instructor. Ensure that the group leader checks submissions of other group members to verify that [1] no terms are duplicated and [2] each group member has utilized the prescribed format for his/her submission. See "FORMAT" below. The terms are to be submitted on a word document comporting with format requirements. In addition, the group leader is to send a pdf of the entire case with ALL submitted terms highlighted in yellow or orange. In short, one part of the submission will be in WORD and the other in pdf. That is why the MOODLE will accept two documents in submission. Deviation from prescribed format and submission rules will incur a penalty in lost marks of 1 mark per infraction subtracted from the group leader's bonus score of three marks. Any legal terms submitted must meet the following criteria: Timely submission must be received by 3 PM on Monday, June 28. The submission will only be effectuated through MOODLE. There are no lifelines for this assignment. Under no circumstances will submissions be accepted by email or through Teams. These submissions will be ignored. Terms submitted must comply with the following: 1. Only new terms neither in the lectures nor from the chapters. 2. First come, first serve: only the group that submits the term first gets the credit (aggregating sections). Accordingly, it is highly recommended that your group shows initiative in getting the submission forwarded through MOODLE as fast as possible. In the real world, individuals who take the initiative reap the reward. 3. Definitions must be taken from legal dictionaries (indicate URL source with a link to a unique term). The legal dictionary must be open source with the definition made publicly available in full without paying a subscription fee or registering on a site. The link should be to a single term only -- not the whole dictionary. Conventional "paper" dictionaries are not to be used for this research assignment. 4. Definition provided must match the meaning in the case. Beware: sometimes legal terms have more than one meaning in law. ONLY ONE DEFINITION PER TERM!
