misleading information, it can distort their memory recall this can lead them to remember events that did not actually happen. Existing knowledge and previously formed memories can interfere with the formation of new memories, resulting in the mis interpretation of the actual event or complete fabrication of an event. The combination of these factors can significantly impact the accuracy and reliability of human memory. Innocent people being wrongly convicted by false memories, this event can happen when people are mistakenly identified and then found guilty based mainly on what eyewitnesses say.

The development of DNA evidence and other investigative methods has helped to prove the innocence of these wrongly convicted people later. "The National Registry of Exonerations reports that nearly 2,800 wrongful convictions have been reversed since 1989 (Norris et al., 2017). Fortunately, these shockingly high numbers have served as a clarion call to actively address the serious consequences of wrongful incarceration" (Convicted by Memory, Exonerated by Science). Wrongful convictions have negative effects not only on individuals but also on families and communities. These miscarriages of justice can erode trust in the legal system and diminish the public's confidence in the fairness and reliability of the criminal justice process.

Sometimes, I hear stories from family members, and it makes me reflect on how accurate and complete their memories are. This self-reflection occurs because there are instances where their accounts differ from my own memories of the same events. These differences raise doubts about the true accuracy of each person's story. It leads me to consider that our memories can be influenced by our subjective interpretations and personal biases, causing us to prioritize certain aspects of the story based on what we consider important.
