Research paper requirements In this course, each group must submit a review of one of the labour economics papers that have been provided. selected from the list uploaded to Sakai. Groups members should read this paper carefully and then should follow the directions highlighted below to provide a critical review of the paper. Each review should provide the following: 1. Title and author of the paper 2. Summary of the paper This should take only several sentences and should be in your own language instead of copying the papers abstract. It demonstrates that you understand the paper. 3. Good things about the paper. There must be something good you feel about the paper. It can be some good ideas, interesting problems, and clear illustrations. It can also be something you learned from the paper, or inspirations for follow up work that can be carried out in Ghana. 4. Major comments Discuss the weaknesses of the assumptions, formulation, technical approach, explanation, presentation, reasoning, experimental setup, results, analysis, literature review, comparison with other work, etc. Give some suggestions on what could have been done. 5. Minor comments Comment on other weaknesses including typos, grammatical errors, figures, etc. that do not significantly affect the overall quality of the paper A good research paper is also fluently written. The research paper must remain within a maximum of 6,500 words, including footnotes, excluding references and annexes. Use wide margins, 11-point font and a line spacing of 1.5. The word count must be provided together with the number of tables and figures. Annexes may provide the details of a theoretical model or an empirical approach, data sources, a used questionnaire, or some background tables and figures. Tables and figures that are essential for the research paper need to be included in the main text. Please make sure that you are consistent in your referencing and bibliography. Use an APA style referencing style. To set a reference in the main text, the mentioning of the authors and year of publication is sufficient. A full reference list of all additionally cited paper papers in an APA style referencing style to the end of your review. Every idea, statement, or fact which is taken from the literature or any other sources must be appropriately cited. Quotes need to be indicated as such. Plagiarism is sanctioned with a mark of zero. The general rules of the University of Ghana on plagiarism applies.
