Research proposal on networking security
Each student will work on a research proposal of his/her choosing throughout the duration of the course. Assignment work will be conducted independently of the other students. Therefore, each student should choose a different and unique research proposal. It is important that you choose a research topic that interests you. You may select any research topic of your choosing but it must be at least loosely related to the fields of information technology, information management, information science, computer science, or government science. We studied in detail the characteristics of a research proposal of a quantitative study.
In Chapter 4: Planning the Research Project, we discuss the internal validity of the research study. Validity of the research study is defined as the extent to which its design and the data it yields allow the researcher to draw accurate conclusions about cause- and-effect and other relationships within the data. In Chapter 4, we also distinguished between Quantitative and qualitative research. An important part of the quantitative research is the identification of a cause-and-effect relationships. In Chapter 7: Experimental Research designs, we discuss the internal validity again and discuss many designs that will allow the researchers to achieve a high level of internal validity of their research studies.
Cause-and-effect studies and in general regression studies are important part of the fields of information technology, information management, information science, computer science, or government science. Simple regression is a statistical approach to analyze the data for a one independent variable affecting one dependant variable, while multiple regression is the statistical approach for analyzing the data for two or more independent variables affecting one dependant variable. Therefore, for this assignment I have restricted the research proposal selected for this course to be only Cause-and-effect studies and in general regression studies. Each student will choose on his own a research problem that deals with cause-and-effect relationship. The two general characteristics of selection for any research problem as we discussed in chapter 2 are a. your problem should address an important question, such that the answer can actually make a difference in some way. b. it should advance the frontiers of knowledge, perhaps by leading to new ways of thinking, suggesting possible applications, or paving the way for further research in the field.
Project Assignment step 1:
Identify the research question or questions that you want in answer using the research proposal project for this course. This assignment is the first step in formulating your research problem. Use the Checklist given on page 35 of your textbook to evaluate your selected research problem. Present your research problem clearly by answering these questions, and Explain clearly why you selected this research problem. Make your selection of your research problem or question to be of a quantitative nature.
Present your first step in Section 1 of Research Proposal.
Section 1:
Section 1 serves as an Introduction to your research proposal for this course. There is no specific format that you must follow, but it should be professional in appearance, and the Introduction will include at a minimum: the problem your research will address, the purpose of your study, your research question, your hypothesis, the importance or significance of your study, some background information on the research topic, any assumptions you are making, definition of key terms you will use in your study, delimitations of the study, and your theoretical framework (theoretical framework does not have to be complex).

Project Assignment step 2:
Write a literature review for your study. See pages 71-73 in your textbook for an example of a literature review (Chapter 3). You should use the annotated bibliography you developed during week 4 as a tool to help you get started. Your literature review should provide both analysis and synthesis of previous studies as related to the research problem and question that you developed for your proposal. Your literature review should be about 2 pages long and includes at least 5 different scholarly references with as many in-text citations as necessary in order to properly cite your work.
Present the second step in Section 2.
Section 2:
Section 2 contains a literature review for your study. Your literature review should provide both analysis and synthesis of previous studies as related to the research problem and question that you developed for your proposal.
Note: The main purpose of the review of the literature is to: show how your study is related to, and extends, other work in the area. A well-structured literature review begins with broad/general information, then narrows the focus to those studies most closely related to the research problem. A well-written literature review emphasizes critique and synthesis of the work of others that is related to your own research problem.

Section 3:
Section 3 contains a quantitative research design for your research problem. In Chapter 7, we covered another category of designs called experimental designs that are used for identifying cause-effect relationships.
