RESEARCHING INFORMATION & CRITICAL READING 1. Select one of the essay topics provided below: Constructive criticism has positive impact onto the employees performance. OR Emotional intelligence is an important attribute for employees as it is for leaders. OR A conflict among team members can be a positive force if it is managed well. 2. What you are to do: 1. Identify three key words in the selected essay topic, which you could use in a keyword search. 2. Research these key words in several search engines to locate sources. 3. Read the ALS handout entitled Library and Researching Guide pages. 4. Search for sources online in Kent Library or/and the State Library in your respective state. 5. Go to EBSCO Host in Moodle (it is located in the Academic Research Centre). 6. Undertake the keyword search in the EBSCO Host database. 7. Use Boolean operators (AND, OR & NOT) to improve your search phrase. 8. Go to Google Scholar: use key words to find sources. 9. Using one or more of the above techniques identify at least five academic sources of information (e.g., articles published in academic journals, and /or books) that could be used to develop an essay on the topic you have chosen. 3.
