Respond by providing feedback on their choice of population, sample, and sampling technique. How do their choices fit with the research question and research methodological approach?
Population
The population of the study is service members who have transitioned out of the military.
Sample
The participants who will be recruited for the study are ex-service defense force veterans who have already rendered their full-time service and have therefore been discharged. A total of 100 veterans will be recruited. Those eligible for the study will be required to do an anonymous online survey through the integration of convenience and snowball sampling methods. Social media platforms linked to ex-service organizations and veteran networking stations will be used to disseminate the URL to the online questionnaire. There will be neither incentive nor remuneration being offered. Some eligibility questions will consist of common practice, specifically online research.
Sampling Technique
The sampling technique that will be used is stratified sampling. It will involve categorizing the participants into subgroups that may significantly vary in significant ways. The technique will therefore allow one to come up with clear conclusions by guaranteeing that each subgroup is adequately presented in the sample (Yegidis et al., 2018). To effectively use this technique, one will be required to divide the population into strata centered on the pertinent features, including gender, age, and job roles. As per the overall population, the researcher can then decide the number of individuals in a sample from each of the subgroups.
Ethical Issues
There are various ethical issues when researching the population. The first issue is ensuring that the anonymity of the participants is guaranteed. The method used in this case is an online survey through social media platforms linked to veteran associations. Such organizations may have access to the participant's responses and personal information (Gordon, 2020). Secondly, issuing a form of consent will be difficult since the surveys will be distributed online using a URL.
