. Identify and explain the key elements of motivation. According to our readings there are three factors of measure to motivation, there are; intensity, direction, and persistence. Intensity is to what degree a person is ready to put forth the work. Someone can start off with high intensity and more than likely start decreasing the same intensity they started with. Or, someone with medium or low intensity and increase or decrease overtime depending on the intensity they see around them; a.k.a. be influenced. Direction is where the team is said to be going by a person of management or workers of the same team. This is also a work of influence as the team should know what this intensity or effort is going towards. Direction is set by the goals of the company or what is at constant reach. Lastly, persistence is what is keeping the intensity from falling. Keeping your employees motivated is often one of the hardest steps for employers because it requires constant effort and setting a standard for excellence. For the most part persistence is accompanied with recognition. . Examine one theory of motivation you find relevant or personally meaningful from the chapter to explain and discuss. One of the most important theories I believe that we learned about was Frederick Herzberg's Two Factor theory of motivation. This theory explains that there are motivators and hygiene factors. Hygiene factors are the typical needs someone expects from their job including good pay, organizational policies/rules, benefits, healthy interactions with their peers and such. And the other factor is what motivates them to excel, and place more effort into their strategies. Motivation Fan take place in different ways like in a team, or competitions, or with different strategies that management opts to take. Reference Robbins, Stephen P., and Tim Judge.
