Social media is the future in my business and it definitely plays a part in my career field. In human resources you are the brand of the company, the face that reaches out when scouting for new talent. I recently had to be featured on the company's website promoting my stores' open positions and what we represent as a company and what we had to offer every candidate that applied. That is personal branding and using social media to show it is one way the company I work for uses its employees to advertise and brand every aspect that comes through its doors. We represent the products and the new innovations the company takes the retail business through and incorporates everyday. We are the testers to tell the customers how it works and why it is so great. It is how and why the company has flourished and lasted so long. Social media made it easier for each employee to brand the company in their own personal way. I am the human resource manager. I represent it through posters, and social media accounts directly in a very professional setting. There are others who do it through their own accounts promoting sales or memberships and or even new events or community programs. According to Chen " Personal branding is the act of combining one's skills and talents to promote value" .(2013)

Social media can be a great tool to use in a professional situation. The best way it can be used is to promote or advertise for a business. Instagram is a great way to share photos and quick little messages to get certain businesses recognized. I have a family member that does detailing for cars and trucks and they use Instagram to show off his work. I think each social media has its own uses depending on the type of job it is for. Facebook is a great way to have a page in place of having a website for things like restaurants. Twitter is a good way to stay in touch with people directly and some funny tweets can have your company going viral. LinkedIn I don't have a lot of experience with but it seems more for trades or professional office type of jobs. YouTube could be a business in itself but now it has "shorts" videos that can help promote a company.
