I have done a lot with my local Mercy, and gotten to see how it operates, on a surface level at least. It is split up into three main parts, and a few smaller parts. Its main parts are Finance, Operations, and Human Resources. In this structure, the admin team is made up of multiple people from each part that come together to make decisions. This can be good, because it means that no one person has complete authority to make decisions that would impact the entire hospital. However, this can also be a disadvantage, because it means there is a lack of cross-education. The people who are in charge is finance, often don't know much about nursing operations, and the operations leaders often don't know about Human Resources. This means that, while there is a distribution of power, it will always require a group effort to make decisions and successfully run the hospital. I am still unsure if I think this is a good structure or not, but I can clearly see why it is something a company might consider
