Kishan Pachhai ihelhimghisl 5 Tue sday Hello everyone, According to Johnson et al. {2020}, the supply process has nine essential steps: recognition of need, description of need, identication, and analysis of possible sources of supply, supplier selection and determination of terms, preparation and placement of purchase order, followup and expediting the order, receipt, and inspection, invoice clearing and payment, and maintenance of records and relationshipsAll these steps in the supply process are essential to ensure that the organization can operate effectively. They can help minimize the cost, improve the quality, and meet the customer's needs. One project where improvements could be made in one or more steps is when we decided to remodel our basement. We decided to do the project ourselves to save money but also, watching doityourself {DIY} projects gives you hope {It was a bad idea]. We started gathering materials and required supplies for the remodeling. However, we recognized the need for the project and the scope of work by adequately identifying and analyzing possible sources of supply. We should have selected different sources and suppliers. We relied heavily on purchasing materials from bigbox stores, onllne retailers, and local suppliers but failed to compare prices or quality. This resulted in overpaying for materials and receiving lowquality materials but also paying for the shipping, which increased the project's total cost. This could have been avoided if we had followed the steps in the supply process, which would allow us to save money and ensure that we had adequate materials and supplies to ensure the completion of the project on time and within the budget. The supply process is basically a communication process. Determining what needs to be communicated, to whom and in what format and time frame is at the heart of an efcient and effective supply management process. It is essential for supply professionals to determine when, where, and how they can add value and whenr where, and how they can extricate themselves from steps that are best left to other people or to technology. l[.lohnson, 2020} A project that I am quite familiar with certainly missed a few steps of the supply process. Recently, our Oakwood, Ohio fill plant took their old air compressor out of service and a project of installing a new compressor began. As they began mapping the projectr they knew who the manufacturer of the compressor was they wanted, knew the price it cost, and the time it would take to build, ship, and install. What they tried to do was just replace the compressor and not replace the air cell or the purifier that must be run with the compressor. They did not recognize that they needed the air cell therefore they missed step 1 in the supply process. Once the compressor arrived and was installed, they tried to give it a test run, at this point the project was 99 percent complete, or so they thought. Once the test run failed miserably, they then realized they should have bought the air cell along with the compressor. This air cell took months to be manufactured and shipped which caused extensive delays. Finallyr the job was completed but it could have been planned out and executed much better if the steps of the supply process were used correctly. Referen c e: Johnson, P. F., Leenders, M.
