The article I found was about a 17-year-old male who had been hanging out with a group of friends in the park. They were approached by another group of adolescents who began to harass them, so to avoid trouble they got up and started to leave. However, the 17-year-old was struck from behind by and beaten, kicked, and hit in the face by someone wearing a cast until he lost consciousness. He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for a severe concussion and required stitches for his badly beaten lip and mouth. Currently, one 14-year-old has been arrested and the charge was upgraded to felonious assault. Other arrests were pending at the time of this news report.

2a. Although the news article provides very little detail about the individual because he is a juvenile and did not want to report his name, he was arrested for brutally assaulting another teen in the park. Given the aggressive nature of the crime, I would describe this delinquent case as indicative of a Life Course Persistent Delinquent. The attack seemed bold and was unprovoked which suggests a history of antisocial behaviors. It would be likely that this individual is impulsive with anger and control issues, and he may be exposed to harsh and abusive parenting in his home environment.

2b. Rolf Loeber's Overt Pathway best represents the example since the teen demonstrates clear, observable aggression towards another person. The level of aggression is significant, the assault is unprovoked, violent, and delivers a considerable amount of physical damage to the victim.

2c. I tried to find further information about the arrest of this individual, but because of his status as a juvenile, I could not find any details about his background or sentencing. However, given what we learned about in class regarding risk factors, I can speculate that this individual is under-controlled. Therefore, because of his inability to exercise self-control, he is likely to engage in fighting and violent acts. Our textbook outlines resiliency factors as high intelligence, having a caring adult, a healthy school environment, and adopting religious beliefs and practices. It describes resilience as, "good outcomes despite serious threats to adaptation and development" (Arnett, 2023). When evaluating the aggressive attack that the teen committed, I cannot outline any resilience, only susceptibility to external factors that have driven the dysfunctional behavior. These could have biological origins, be caused by sensation seeking, or be caused by influences from friends and a dysfunctional family environment.

Before reading this article/discussion be aware that it contains subject matter such as sexual assault.

The article I found was about 3 adolescents two 14 year olds and one 13 year old. The 14 year olds were charged with first-degree sexual assault and the 13 year old was charged with possession of a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct. The assault occurred during a super bowl party. One of the boys recorded the assault while the other two boys committed the assault, after which they posted it on snapchat for peers to see. Without being overly graphic the two boys held the victim down and used a broomstick with force. They are all being charged as adults.

2:1- The articles regarding the assault have little information about the individuals due to them being aged 13,14 and 14. With how the boys assaulted the victim I would have to say that that they project Life Course Persistent Delinquent. The reason I say this is because with LCPD you see males presenting this more opposed to females who present ALD. Without more knowledge I cant speak on whether the boys who committed the assault were neglected or abused but based on the severity of the assault I have to say that fit into LCPD.

2:2 I believe that Overt Pathway best represents this example. The reason I say Overt is because with this pathway we see aggressive behaviors that involve harming another person. Sexually assaulting another person I believe fits into this category.

2:3 Without sounding like a classmate I would have to say that the events that happened in this article make believe that the assaulters are undercontrolled. Sexual assault in my opinion is something that has to be thought of because of whats happening during the assault. The behaviors showed by the boys show a lack of control, emotional regulation and are impulsive. If I had more information regarding the assaulters I perhaps could make another assumption but I believe this fits best. Without knowing their home life or family life we are only open to guessing the kind of lives they have based on the assault and it comes with questions such as "what made them do it?" "Why did they choose that specific victim?" and "Where did they learn that behavior"
