Respond to student's post with a substantive response.

The Public Health Model of Prevention is composed of three components. The three components are divided into three levels of crime and prevention: primary, secondary, and tertiary. The beginning level being Primary Prevention "identifies -conditions of the physical and social environment that provide opportunities for or precipitate criminal acts" (Brantingham and Faust, 1976). Examples for Primary Prevention include legislation and enforcement to prohibit or limit the use of dangerous items, education on crime and crime prevention (Lab 2020), regulating safe and healthy practices such as seatbelt use, and so on.

Jacobs, Jeffery, and Newman's contributions to modern crime prevention provided more on the architecture side of crime prevention. With Jacobs, she developed an urban environment that reduced actual crime and created a sense of security amongst a city (Jacobs 1961). Jeffery's concern lay more with the prospective offenses. His ultimate desire was for the police to improve their policing within the community and further community alignment (Jeffery 1971). Newman prioritized having architects develop a thriving physical environment to develop a better image of the location (Newman 1972). Newman had a beneficial outcome that resulted in Lighting projects, Citizen Patrols, etc. (Lab 2020). I believe Jeffery's contribution has been more influential and impactful due to his change in crime prevention and because his designs are still in use today and are widely known.
